![]() ![]() Dorian gets saved by Manon, which was an interesting turn of events as well. Rifthold suffers a lot of damage in the attack and I really liked that, the book finally made me feel that there is an actual big conflict in this series. Again, this surprised me a lot, at the end of the previous book Aelin and Dorian had two kingdoms behind them, but suddenly they don't have any. While Aelin is in Terrasen, Rifthold gets attacked by Manon and her witches. And thanks to this, we were able to actually go on an adventure instead of spending the entire book in one place yet again, which is a very welcome change. And you know what? I liked it! Even though Aelin is a hero who finally liberated her kingdom from Adarlan's rule, she's also basically a stranger to everyone in Terrasen, she's been gone for 10 years, nobody really knows her, so it makes sense that they don't want her to rule. I was immediately surprised, I thought this book was going to be about Aelin learning how to rule her kingdom but nope, she got pretty much thrown out of it straight away. The book starts with Aelin meeting some Terrasen nobles who inform her that they don't want her as their queen. Things were finally happening, there was a lot of plot advancement, character development, even some interesting world building. in my opinion the best book in the series so far. ![]() My previous review was pretty negative, because I was getting a bit mad and bored with this series. ![]() It has been quite a while but I am back after finishing Book 5 of this series. ![]()
